Douglas James Barents, 43, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was born on February 28, 1974, in Worcester to Thomas A. Barents of Upton and Gail A. Valera of Boylston.
Douglas grew up in Shrewsbury and graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1992. After high school, he attended Becker College in Leicester, where he received an Associate Degree. He worked for Lexus of Northborough as a Service Advisor.
Douglas had a passion for sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He played golf in a league at Leicester Country Club. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his two daughters, family, friends, and watching "the boys" play football with his best friend, Rob Patenaude.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Nina Valera of Boylston; his daughters, Kylie Barents of Northbridge, and Julia Barents of E. Brookfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Steven Picard of Upton; his girlfriend, Melissa Corbett and her daughter Madison Corbett of W. Brookfield; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and the very best of friends.
