Dorothy J. (Bates) Labine

Dorothy J. (Bates) Labine, of Upton, died Friday morning, November 24, 2006 in St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Armand Labine, who died in 1988, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday at St. Camillus, attended by family and friends.
Mrs. Labine was born in Grafton, one of ten children of the late Daniel H. and Ina M. (Pond) Bates. She had worked at the former Kartiganer Hat Company in West Upton until retiring many years ago.
She leaves one daughter, Judith Turner of Whitinsville; two brothers, Oscar and Harold Bates of Upton; two sisters, Vivian Grimley of Auburn and Arlene Consoletti of Arlington, TX; a granddaughter, Kim Silva, and two great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Jonathan Silva, all of Sutton. Another daughter, Joan Labine, died in 2003. She was also the sister of the late Howard, Ormand, Earl, Daniel, and Ernest Bates.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.

Following cremation, private funeral serviceswill be held at the convenience of the family.
