Doris Ruth (Orff) Whitney

Doris R. (Orff) Whitney, 86, of Upton, died early Monday, December 27, 2010 in her home after a long illness. She worked as a department manager at The Mart in North Grafton for many years until retiring several years ago.
Mrs. Whitney was born in Upton, a daughter of the late Edward L. Orff, Sr. and Elsie May (Morrison) Orff. A 1942 graduate of Upton High School, she lived in Upton most of her life. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Sutton and was devoted to her family.
She leaves five children, Dennis M. Whitney of Charlton, Ronald A. Whitney of Sutton, Henry A. Whitney of Grafton, Darlene J. Whitney of Douglas, and Doreen N. Whitney of Millbury; three brothers, Edward L. Orff. Jr. of Upton, Richard W. Orff and his wife Beverly of Hopedale, and Robert F. Orff and his wife Louise of Milford; one sister, Joanne Deiana and her husband Burton of Venice, FL; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her twin, Donald R. Orff, who died in infancy, and two sisters, Elaine Benoit and Dorothy DeYoung.

Following cremation, a private graveside service will be heldin Maplewood Cemetery in West Upton in the spring.
