Doris V. (Jacobson) Rooney

Doris V. (Jacobson) Rooney, 90, of Upton, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, in Pleasant View Center in Concord, NH after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Karl H. Rooney, who died in 1981.
Mrs. Rooney was born in Everett, MA, a daughter of the late John M. and Grace (Fretts) Jacobson, and had lived in Upton most of her life. A graduate of Becker Junior College in Worcester, she was the bookkeeper for the former Knowlton Manor Nursing Home in Upton for about 15 years, retiring in 1999. She previously worked for the Upton Board of Health and had volunteered at the Upton Town Library for many years. A member of the Upton Woman's Club, the Upton Historical Society, and Eastern Star, she attended the United Parish of Upton.
She leaves two daughters, Kathleen Humes of Deerfield, NH, and Karen Pond and her husband Gary of Hopkinton, NH; two sisters, Grace Wadsworth of Upton and Phyllis Robinson of Bedford, NH; and three granddaughters, Sandra Hewson of Ballston Spa, NY, Meaghan Ezen of Hopkinton, NH, and Molly Ezen of Bozeman, MT. She was also the mother-in-law of the late John Humes, who died in May, and the sister of the late John Jacobson.

Service Details
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home at 45 Main Street, Upton, with the Rev. Jan Gregory-Charpentier officiating.Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton.
