Doris E. Golden, 86, of Shrewsbury, MA, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Golden was born on June 5, 1926, in Pittsfield, MA, the daughter of the late Elmer and Hazel Jansen. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and worked as a bank teller before marrying her first husband, the late William E. Ennis, who died in 1976.
While her three children were young, Doris took time off from work to raise them. Doris was a strong, smart woman with a big personality. She especially enjoyed homemaking, gardening, tanning at the beach, and driving fast cars. Later in life, Doris returned to work as a store manager and as a licensed real estate agent before marrying her second husband, the late David Golden, who died in 2008 after the couple had spent many happy years together.
Doris is survived by her three children, Garrett A. Ennis and his wife Terri of Marshfield, MA, Tracey A. Carter and her husband Rod of Upton, MA, and Kelli J. Perla of Hollywood, FL . She also leaves five grandchildren, William and Patrick Ennis and Alexandra, Olivia, and Sam Carter, as well as one surviving brother William Jansen, and sister-in-law Jenny Jansen, and many nieces and nephews.
