Donald H. LaPan, 87, of Medway, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 in Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was the husband of Lois A. (Erickson) LaPan.
Born in Upton, the son of the late Harry and Nettie (Burnham) LaPan, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War who attained the rank of Corporal and earned the U.N. Medal, Korean Service Medal, Occupation Medal (Japan) and four bronze stars. A resident of Milford before coming to Medway 20 years ago, he worked as a truck driver for Inland Express for many years and continued working part-time at a variety of jobs until about three years ago.
He was a member of the Teamsters and had been a Boy Scout leader and hockey coach. He enjoyed casino trips and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves four children, Susan Mansfield and her husband Robert of Maple Shade, NJ, David LaPan and his wife Colleen of Mendon, Jeffrey LaPan and his wife Susan of Dickey, ND, and Sharon LaPan and her friend Joanne Koss of Uxbridge; a daughter-in-law Therese Cooper of Uxbridge; two sisters, Lucille Whitney of Whitinsville and Phyllis Fertitta of Milford; two brothers, Arthur LaPan of Northbridge and William LaPan of Douglas; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Kotzbeck, Brent Mansfield, Brian, Kevin, Chase, Elisabeth and Ellie LaPan, Erin and James Kiteley, and Nicholas Koss; and a great-grandson, Mason Kotzbeck. Another son, Paul LaPan, passed away in 2014. He was also the brother of the late Walter, Roland, and Lloyd LaPan and Geraldine Shaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Medway Fire Dept., 44 Milford St., Medway 02053.
Service Details
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m.
in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton.
Burial will follow with military honors
in Lakeview Cemetery, North Main St., Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
