David Brian Ferguson

David Brian Ferguson Sr., 60 of Mendon, MA, passed away peacefully at his family home.   He is the beloved husband of 37 years to Tracey (Dumas) Ferguson.

“Ferg” started his “long strange trip” on February 6th, 1963, in North Attleboro, MA. The sun set on his journey on June 21st, 2023, which happens to be one of his favorite days of the year, Summer Solstice. He was the son of the late Judith and Harold Ferguson, and the late Herbert E. Schulz, Sr. He graduated on the National Honor Society from Foxborough High School in 1981 as a student athlete. He was an all-state wrestler and enjoyed playing football from pop warner up until Varsity in High School. He went on to attend Springfield College.

After college he began his life-long career in the garage door industry, later becoming the owner and operator of Marathon Door & Glass, Inc. He had a passion for his craft and excelled in the overhead door industry achieving multiple awards, one of which was being named President of the PDA.

He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Shining Rock golf family. In his leisure time he was known to enjoy music, specifically the Grateful Dead, being one with nature, and was an avid Boston sports fan. He was unwavering in his beliefs and passionate about politics. David had a unique ability to connect with both people and animals on a deep level. He was known to be an animal lover and could strike up deep meaningful conversations with anyone who had the opportunity to spend time with him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their five children; Brittany Lapan (Ferguson) and spouse Kurt Lapan of Anna, Texas, Caitlyn Dintaman (Ferguson) and spouse Abram Dintaman of Heber City, Utah, David Brian Ferguson, Jr. “DJ” and spouse Heather Dawson of Hopedale, MA, Erik Ferguson and spouse Abbygayle Ferguson of Smithfield, North Carolina, and Elisabeth Ferguson of Heber City, Utah. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Hunter David, Emilia Rose, Kurt Michael Jr. “KJ”, Kendall Mae, Oliver James, Kennedy Mae, Wesley Paul, Boden Van Dorn, and one more expected in December. He was one of six children, Stephen Ferguson of Salt Lake City, Utah, the late Matthew Ferguson of North Attleboro, MA, the late Peter Ferguson of Hooksett, NH, Herbert E. Schulz Jr. of Bath, NH, and Rebecca Carbonneau of Woodsville, NH.

Calling hours will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday July 1st, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton, MA.

A Celebration of Life will immediately follow calling hours at David’s son, David Jr’s home in Hopedale.
