Cheryl Newton, 62, of Upton, MA went home to God on June 9th, 2024, following a battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Cheryl was born on September 8th, 1961, to Louis J. and Katherine A. Baccari in Newton, MA. She married her high school sweetheart, James A. Newton, Sr. and they were married for 42 years until his death in 2023. Together, they raised a family of six children: James Jr, Carrieana, Ashley, Shannon, Courtney, and Kelsey.
She was a passionate and selfless caregiver, first venturing into a nursing career that focused on caring for the most vulnerable among us - children and elders. The caregiving continued at home where she cared for her parents, her mother-in-law, and her husband through challenging medical diagnoses and their twilight years.
She was actively involved with the lives of her children, attending their extracurricular activities in school and beyond. She helped her daughters navigate through the complexities of motherhood as she naturally and proudly became a grandmother - 16 times.
She was a woman of deep faith and remained participatory in church activities until the end of her life.
Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, James, her father, Louis, and her mother Katherine. She is survived by her six children: her son, James Newton Jr. of Denver, CO, her daughter Carrieana and son-in-law Andrew George of Upton, MA, her daughter Ashley and son-in-law Jake Arsenault of Clinton, MA, her daughter Shannon and son-in-law Peter Ryan of Millville, MA, her daughter Courtney and son-in-law Dalton Briggs of Somerset, MA, her daughter Kelsey and son-in-law Paul Parker of Sutton, MA, her sixteen grandchildren, her friend and caretaker Joseph Rodarte, and countless extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, June 13th, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 A.M. on Friday, June 14th, at St. Blaise Catholic Church, 1158 S. Main Street, Bellingham, MA. Burial will follow in St. Phillip's Cemetery in Grafton, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or St. Vincent de Paul in her honor.
