UPTON - Celeste C. (Lucier) Gilchrist, 60, of Upton, died early Wednesday, August 9, in Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge after a long illness. She was the widow of James A. Gilchrist, who died in 2000 after 35 years of marriage.
Mrs. Gilchrist was born in Grafton, a daughter of the late Alexis P. and Mary E. (Sampson) Lucier. A 1963 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School, she was a lifelong resident of Upton. She worked as an administrative assistant at Data General/EMC for almost 20 years until retiring in 2000. She had previously worked at the Upton Board of Health and in the guidance office at Nipmuc Regional High School. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a member of the Upton Bloomer Girls, and actively participated in Upton Fire Company activities during the many years that her husband served as an EMT and volunteer firefighter. She especially enjoyed times at York Beach in Maine and any time spent with her grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, Robert J. Gilchrist of Mendon and William J. Gilchrist of Upton; a daughter, Kelly S. Taylor of Upton; five brothers, Albert and Walter Lucier of Grafton, Daniel Lucier of Hubbardston, James Lucier of Lady Lake, FL, and Kenneth Lucier of Oxford; two sisters, Susan Evans of Newmarket, NH and Judith Hannum of Maine; and eight grandchildren. Another brother, Leonard Woodward of Whitinsville, died in 2005.

Service Details
Funeral services will be held Saturday from the funeral home with
a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street, Upton.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
