Catherine T. McCarthy, 77, of Auburn and formerly of Upton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the UMASS University Campus in Worcester. She was the beloved wife to the late Michael D. McCarthy, who died in 2007.
Born in Cordial County Kerry, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Kerry and Nora (Mahony) Brosnan and was raised and educated in Ireland.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. McCarthy was employed as a seamstress for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Catherine was a parishioner of the former Holy Angels Parish in Upton and more recently at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn.
She was a member of the Auburn Senior Center, the Grafton American Legion, and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Mary and Richard Wilson, Patrick McCarthy, Sheila Mawhinney and Michael Picanso; grandson, Donovan; her siblings, Phyllis Brady (John), Joseph Brosnan, Sheila Kelly, Ellen Kondan (Joseph); her sister and brother-in-law’s, David Sheehan, Edmond Marshall, John McCarthy, Mary McCarthy, George and Kathy McCarthy, Ann and Joseph Bondanza; extended family Anthony Brosnan who was thought of more like a brother, Michael Picanso Jr., Colleen, Alberto, Kaylee and Trevon Pagan; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Maureen Sheehan and Joan Marshall; her sister-in-law Kathy McCarthy, Mary Brosnan and brother-in-law Jerry Kelly.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, September 11, in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 151 Mendon St. Upton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
