Carl W. Porter, 93, a lifelong resident of Upton, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Westborough Health Care Center after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Eunice M. (Claflin) Porter, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 14th.
Mr. Porter was born in Upton, the son of the late Theodore and Olga (Johnson) Porter. A graduate of Upton High School, he was a World War II Army veteran. He worked as a rate setter for Whitin Machine Works for over 30 years until retiring in 1979, and served as an assessor for the Town of Upton for many years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Carl W. Porter, Jr. of Upton and Richard Porter and his wife Juliet of North Grafton; one grandson, Glen Porter of Holden; and a great-granddaughter, Katharine, born on July 4th.

Graveside services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Hopkinton
at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
