Alice (Cencak) Stefans, 87, of Upton, died in her home early Friday, January 23, 2009 after a period of failing health. She was the widow of Joseph S. Stefans, who died in 2004 after 52 years of marriage.
Mrs. Stefans was born in Worcester, one of four daughters of the late Andrew and Anna (Paciga) Cencak. She grew up in Douglas and was a graduate of Douglas Memorial High School and Kathryn Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. She worked as an administrative assistant at Westborough District Court for 25 years, retiring several years ago. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Daughters of Isabela, and was a member of the Upton Woman's Club.
She leaves one daughter, Ann Foye and her husband Steven of Upton; a sister, Lilian Cencak of Douglas; one grandson, Joshua S. Foye and his wife Katie of Upton; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Adeline Foye of Upton; and a nephew, Robert Baker and his wife Alma of Holliston. Her son, David Stefans, died in 1977. She was also the sister of Elaine Cencak, who died in 1981, and Susan Baker Nichols, who died in 1988.

Funeral services Monday, January 26 from the funeral home
with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street, Upton.
Burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be prior to the Mass
from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Monday only.
